Schneider Optics Super Wide Projection Lenses enable theatre operators to fill large-venue screens such as IMAX or 870 theatres with 35mm film images. The new 19mm and 21mm f2.0 wide angle lenses represent a substantial advance in large screen 35mm projection.
These are the first projection lenses capable of effectively filling IMAX screens with 35mm 1.85 format film images. They require absolutely no changes to the theatre, and can be used on all 35mm projectors.
The Schneider Optics Super Wide Lenses represent the solution many IMAX and other large-venue theatre owners have been demanding. Not only is filling the screen a more cost-effective alternative to picture-masking, it's simply a much more desirable solution for getting better and increased usage of IMAX theatres.
Whenever they're not showing IMAX films, cinemas can now easily fill the entire width of their IMAX screens with a sharp, high-quality 35mm film image.
The Super Wide 19mm f2.0 and Super Wide 21mm f2.0 are both constructed with 11 air-gapped lens elements, these lenses withstand well the severe high brightness demands placed on them when installed in projectors with lamps as large as 7kw.
When used to create giant screen images on a large silver screen, such as those now used in many multiplex large venue theatres, these lenses produce astonishingly bright and sharp images.
