Schneider-Kreuznach Xenon FF-Prime Lenses
In today’s fast moving world and the evolving advances of digital cinematography with full frame sensor cameras shooting at 4K and higher, Schneider-Kreuznach Xenon FF-Primes provide full frame coverage and a true 4K optical design. Users hail their uniform size, weight, internal design and consistent performance throughout the set. Purpose built, the Xenon FF-Prime lenses offer a full set of matched professional primes, built to last through generations of changing camera technology, and withstand the daily rigors of a working set. Whether your project calls for an ARRI, RED, Canon, Sony, Blackmagic or mirrorless HDSLR cameras, these compact lenses provide full frame coverage with interchangeable mounts in either PL, Canon EF, Sony E, and Nikon F.
The Xenon FF-Prime family includes the 18mm T2.4 (Aug 2017), 25mm T2.1, 35mm T2.1, 50mm T2.1, 75mm T2.1, and 100mm T2.1 focal lengths. Since the FF-Primes share the same external dimensions, gear location, and similar weights, it assures easy compatibility with an array of cameras and accessories, and makes for quick lens changes. The relatively uniform weight of the lenses greatly simplifies setting counterbalance on both tripod heads and specialty camera support equipment like Steadicam and MoVI stabilizers.
The circular 14-blade aperture is meticulously engineered to let the light into each FF-Prime to provide a pleasing and consistent bokeh that rival the finest film lenses at every T stop. With a 300° barrel rotation, the manual focus markings support precise accuracy and dead-on repeatability. The near telecentric design minimizes breathing while pulling focus.
FF-Primes utilize a cam driven focus instead of the helical thread commonly found on photo-based lenses. The cam permits more evenly spaced focus marks so focus is easier and more intuitive.
Xenon FF-Prime Cine-Tilt Lenses
Schneider-Kreuznach introduces their Cine-Tilt lenses to the FF-Prime Family. The lenses offer the same benefits of the standard Xenon FF-Primes with the added bonus of ±4° tilt functionality, so there is no need to swap lenses during a shot. By sustaining the field of view during focus and tilt actions, the new Cine-Tilt design makes possible previously unimaginable images from the freely moving and tilting focus planes. The new lenses offer the potential to utilize out-of-focus areas in the frame, especially when tilt is used with large apertures. A 4° tilt angle at the sensor plane corresponds to an 80° focal plane, which varies according to the focal length and aperture setting selected.
Currently, the set comprises of the following focal lengths, 25mm, 35mm, 50mm, 75mm, and 100mm all at T2.1. The Cine-Tilt is available in the Sony E mount.
